The HQE label for high environmental quality is given to buildings that incorporate measures to reduce environmental impact while providing healthy, comfortable living conditions for occupants.

HQE buildings ensure a high level of energy performance and are key to meeting the goals of the energy transition in terms of unlocking energy savings.

Buildings must meet 14 criteria across four broad categories to qualify for the HQE label:

  • Eco-building: use of sustainable building practices during construction.
  • Eco-management: eco-friendly building management.
  • Comfort: ensuring interior comfort for residents.
  • Health: providing healthy surroundings for occupants (IAQ, etc.)
